Info:
- India followed their usual blueprint of a steady start at the top of their innings before their middle-order exploded into action across the final block of overs in Friday’s ODI. Virat Kohli made his third successive half-century inside a week, he has now scored 50+ in five of his last six journeys to the crease against England, and Rishabh Pant showed that he is a star in all formats with a 40-ball 77. However, the top run-scorer for India was the previously out-of-form KL Rahul who followed up his unbeaten 62 in the first ODI with 108.
- For England, their reply was again built on a century partnership from Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy. Bairstow impressed throughout his innings hitting his eleventh ODI century and continued his strong form in this format. He now has scores of 112, 94, and 124 on Friday, across his last three ODI appearances. However, Ben Stokes was arguably the best batsman during the game, smashing 99 from only 52 balls during a rapid 175-run second-wicket partnership with Bairstow.
- Bowlers on both sides were expensive on a pitch that favored the power hitters. Only Moeen Ali (4.70) and Prasidh Krishna (5.80) had economy rates under 6 runs per over. Reece Topley (2-50) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1-63 were also impressive in periods.

Toss Prediction
Virat Kohli has lost nine out of the eleven tosses against England, across all formats, during this year’s tour of India. We expect Kohli or Jos Buttler to choose to field first should they win the toss.
Weather & Pitch Report:
⛅ Weather:
Mostly sunny with a little bit of cloud. The temperature could top 40 degrees during the earlier stages of the game.
🏟️ Pitch:
Friday’s pitch offered very little for the bowlers and at times resembled a road when the batsmen were hitting sixes deep into the stands. It would be a big surprise if Sunday’s pitch was remarkably different.
Team NEWS:
INDIA Team News:
We expect India to pick the same XI after Rishabh Pant impressed in his first ODI since January 2020. Pant replaced Shreyas Iyer who is expected to miss large parts of the IPL in his rehabilitation from a shoulder injury. Kuldeep Yadav’s place may be under threat though, he returned figures of 0-68 from 9 overs in the first ODI and 0-84 from 10 overs in Friday’s game.
ENGLAND Team News:
Without Eoin Morgan leading the side, Jos Buttler had his hands full in Friday’s game. The wicket-keeper was often having to run to the top of the bowler’s mark to revise plans after another shot had cleared the ropes, before trudging back to his position behind the stumps. It was no surprise that he delivered a three-ball duck with the bat. Sam Billings may be fit to return and will mean one of either Liam Livingstone and Dawid Malan to miss out. Mark Wood will also return after being rested, possibly in place of the expensive Tom Curran.

IND Key Players:
Rishabh Pant:
nowadays, the wicketkeeper-batsman is probably the India player that England fear the most with the bat in all three formats. In Friday’s game he hit ten boundaries including seven sixes in his 40-ball 77. If his name isn’t on the team sheet for the final ODI then every member of the England touring party will breathe a sigh of relief.
Virat Kohli:
his consistency across the white ball series has been remarkable. When he has got in he has punished England’s attack on every occasion, Jos Buttler’s men know that if they don’t get him very early then they will be in his company for at least half the innings. After defeat in the second ODI, we wouldn’t be surprised if Virat chooses to go up another gear and lay an even stronger platform for the powerful stroke makers who come after him.

Bhuveneshwar Kumar:
although Prasidh Krishna went for 5 fewer runs, Kumar was again the bowler who England treated with the most respect during the second ODI. He picked up the crucial wicket of Stokes and will be looking to get him much earlier in this deciding fixture.
although Prasidh Krishna went for 5 fewer runs, Kumar was again the bowler who England treated with the most respect during the second ODI. He picked up the crucial wicket of Stokes and will be looking to get him much earlier in this deciding fixture.
KL Rahul:
After a very disappointing T20I series, Rahul showed that class is permanent with an unbeaten 43-ball 63 across the final seventeen overs of India’s innings. He also proved his worth with the gloves, taking three catches to dismiss Morgan, Moeen, and Rashid in 1st ODI, Played well in 2nd ODI & make 108 Runs with a Strike Rate of 95, hope we will get a good knock again on the final match.
ENG Key Players:
Jason Roy:
after four scores in the 40s during this tour of India, Roy finally breached the 50 mark in the second ODI. However, he was evidently furious to be run out, tossing his bat away as he slowly departed the pitch. His opening partnership with Jonny Bairstow is a huge strength for England, they will be aiming for their third successive hundred partnership in the series.
Jonny Bairstow:
although he top-scored with 124, he almost went under the radar as initially Roy and then Stokes out-hit him during England’s ferocious top-order batting display. Bairstow endured a wretched Test series and a below-par T20I campaign but has shown that ODI cricket is where he flourishes. He averages 109 in this series so far.

Ben Stokes:
with Jofra Archer, Joe Root, and now Eoin Morgan out of the side, even more than usual is required of England’s premier all-rounder. He looked tired with the ball as he conceded 42 runs from only 5 overs, but made up for it with an explosive batting performance which included 10 sixes.

Team Forms:
IND Team Form:
Considering Virat Kohli’s poor record with the toss during England’s tour, India’s overall form is remarkable. The captain will be asking for one final push from his team to complete the trio of Test, T20I and ODI series wins.
ENG Team Form:
England will be desperate to end this tour with a trophy after capitulating during the Test series and narrowly missing out in the T20Is. The form of their top-order batsmen should certainly give the England supporters hope.
